Practical Golf Guide during Covid-19 for Filey Golf Club Members. (Updated 1st June.)
1. Course Access: in the initial period access to the course is limited to our staff, club, and members. Non-members without a FGC member will be welcomed when Government restrictions allow. To access the course a player must:
- Be an active member
- Not have been out of the country for over 14 days
- Not be in self isolation and not required to shield
- Not be displaying Covid-19 symptoms
- Have a pre-booked tee time
2. Booking & Arrival:
- BOOKING A TEE-TIME ON BOTH THE 9-HOLE AND 18-HOLE COURSES, IN ADVANCE, IS COMPULSORY – This can be done via BRS on the club website or by your smartphone/tablet app.
- Tee times are available from 7.30 am to 7.00 pm.
- The online booking will open mid-day Tuesday 12th May and will be limited to booking 5 days in advance.
- All players should provide a phone number and email address to facilitate tracing
- Golf equipment should be sanitised before a player leaves home
- Golfers should travel to the club alone or with a member of the same household
- Please park sensibly to ensure social distancing
- Arrival at the course should be no more than 15 minutes before reserved tee time.
- Social distancing must be observed at all times, resist the temptation to mingle
- Changing rooms are closed.
- Arrive wearing golfing attire and change footwear at the car
- Report to the starter to check in.
- Check-in and clubhouse protocol:
- All golfers must check in with the starter
- Two-meter queue markers at the entrance to the corridor and single-entry point
- There will be a “one-way system through the corridor to the toilets. The changing rooms will be closed
- Members are requested to bring their own hand sanitiser
- Clubhouse Facilities.
- Clubhouse access is limited to the toilets together with trolley store which will be open to allow members to access equipment for 7 days thereafter closed to avoid the potential for the virus to spread
- Toilets will have entrance doors open
- Hand dryers are disabled, disposable paper towels are provided
- Players to arrive in golf attire and change shoes at their car
- The First Tee:
- Groups restricted to 2 balls at 10-minute intervals, (From the 1st June, 4 Balls permitted.)
- The practice ground and putting greens are closed
- Arrival at the first tee no more than 5 minutes prior to the booked tee time
- Social spacing to be paramount
- Any player(s) not following directions will be asked to leave the course
- Tee-off times to be strictly observed to ensure minimum 10-minute group spacing
- Scorecards are not to be exchanged
- Social golf only. No competitive golf or “clutches”
- On the Course:
- Social distancing observed throughout , particularly on tees and greens
- Bunker rakes removed, players to smooth sand with feet as appropriate
- Flagsticks to remain in hole and must not be touched
- Hole cups have a sleeve for simple contact free ball retrieval
- Once a hole is completed the group in front must have left the tee before players progress to the next hole
- Do not double back to play again if a ball is lost or unplayable, if there is any doubt play a provisional ball
- Equipment, food and drink must not be shared between players
- Players must not pick up another player’s equipment or golf ball
- No handshakes or other contact at the termination of the round
- Please exit the course promptly
- Getting Home Safely:
- Post-round players must return immediately to their cars – resist the urge to mingle
- The clubhouse bar and locker rooms will remain closed
- Ensure that clubs and other equipment are thoroughly cleaned after use and at home
- Players must call or email the club with any post-round health issues or Covid-19 related queries at the earliest possible opportunity
