Filey Golf Club - Course Plan

Plan of the Course

Hole 1
335 yards Par 4 SI 9

Out of bounds to the right and four visible fairway bunkers. Keep left and improve your chances of holding the green with your approach shot.

Hole 2
328 yards Par 4 SI 15

All downhill from the tee. Keep left - but not too far as the deep rough awaits. Aim for the greenkeeper's sheds for the best approach to a green that also slopes away from you.

Hole 3
139 yards Par 3 SI 17

Big green protected by bunkers on the right and left.

Hole 4
356 yards Par 4 SI 5

Out of Bounds on the right . Keep your tee shot left of centre for shot into elevated green protected by bunkers short right and left.

Hole 5
339 yards Par 4 SI 13

Good strategy hole. Out of Bounds all down the right up to and past the green. Water hazard on right, trees on left. Find the fairway for an approach to a delightful green.

Hole 6
196 yards Par 3 SI 11

Usually into prevailing NE wind . Good size green tilted towards tee - produces many birdie chances.

Hole 7
513 yards Par 5 SI 7

Hit a good straight tee shot. Place your next shot in the right place and a birdie awaits if you can hold the ball on the elevated green.

Hole 8
466 yards Par 4 SI 3

From the elevated tee to an uphill sloping fairway the ball will not roll far. A good second to a green that slopes from right to left may result in a par.

Hole 9
432 yards Par 4 SI 1

Keep the drive to the left on this slight right dogleg. The elevated green well protected by bunkers awaits a well struck shot but do not go over the green.

Hole 10
308 yards Par 4 SI 10

Lay up and hit that wedge. Flat green offers many a birdie chance but watch out for the water.

Hole 11
331 yards Par 4 SI 14

Drive to the top of the hill and the green is visible slightly downhill but another good birdie chance.

Hole 12
337 yards Par 4 SI 12

Lay up and take out the trouble caused by trees and streams or hit driver and have a wedge into the sloping green.

Hole 13
442 yards Par 4 SI 2

Aim just left of the marker to take advantage of the following downhill section . The green is elevated with bunkers right and left.

Hole 14
390 yards Par 4 SI 6

A good straight drive will result in a fairly straightforward par 4.

Hole 15
292 yards Par 4 SI 16

A good short Par 4. Dogleg left, bunkers right and left and small green which is usually quite firm.

Hole 16
138 yards Par 3 SI 18

Back towards the sea through a gap in the trees. The tee is protected from the wind but look to the flagstick for some help.

Hole 17
352 yards Par 4 SI 8

Dogleg to the right. Deep rough to the right if you slice. Deep rough left if you drive through the fairway. Small green best approached from the left.

Hole 18
418 yards Par 4 SI 4

Slight dogleg to the right with deep rough on the right. Aim left of marker to avoid hidden bunker on corner. The green is inverted saucer shaped and it takes a good approach shot to hold the green
